My grandfather's grandfather William M Marsden (Marsden-73) was born in Blackburn, Lancashire, in 1813. He arrived in Baltimore with his family in 1827. In 1841 he purchased land in Oregon and Crawford townships in Washington County, Iowa. It seems that he traveled to Iowa with another Marsden family, but I have not been able to understand how these two families are related.

Another William Marsden (1757-1837) was also born in Blackburn, Lancashire. He died in Ohio in 1837. I have not been able to find any information about his parents or other ancestry. The 1840 census seems to indicate that his family was living in Ohio at that time.

In 1841 two of his sons purchased land in Louisa Coounty, Iowa. At the same time another brother, John, purchased land in adjoining Washington County with William M. Marsden. Can anyone provide any suggestions for helping to understand how these two familes are related?

Should I add the family of William Marsden (1747-1837) to wikitree even if am an not able at this time to link them to any other profiles?
