Need Georgian/Russian communication help

Hello all! Adoption Angels has received an application from someone who speaks Georgian (the country, not the USA state) and I need help communicating with them. If you can write in Georgian or something similar can you help me out? Thanks so much!

Emma, my husband was educated in Russia and he says that the Georgian language is not Slavic and is nothing like the Russian language. It has a different set of characters - not Russian, not Latin (like what we use). He does not speak or write Georgian, unfortunately. Georgia is located south of Russia and separated by the Caucasus Mountains. To it's south is Turkey and Armenia. It also borders Azerbaijan, so maybe a language more like those.

Thank you Lucy. I know nothing about Georgia, so I was taking a shot in the dark by marking this as Russia. I don't think we even have a project that covers the middle east.

I don't think Georgia is technically Middle Eastern either. They are part of the Caucauses? I know they were part of the Soviet Union, but the language is just different. Does Google Translate not help at all? I usually find it helpful.

I can translate what they've written, but I don't trust Google translate for sending a message. I've seen GT make some bad mistakes.

Unfortunately according to this table for Template:Languages, no speakers of Georgian (ISO 639-1 code ka) have listed themselves as such on WikiTree.

Georgia (in their own language Sakartvelo, if that helps) is Western Asian, not Middle Eastern. You might have more luck getting a volunteer translator for Georgian over on Reddit: r/translator (there's over 134k people on that forum so a decent chance you'll find someone who knows both English and Georgian).
