Charles Lindbergh is the ace in the Connection Finder flight plans this week alongside other notable aviators.

Here are other pilots to check your connection to:

Which one is most closely connected to you? If you're one of the 27.3 million of us who are connected to each other on our big tree you can check with the Connection Finder.

Special Feature: Check out how you're connected to other Notables, such as aviatorsaviation history, and aviation heroes (USA) using the green MyConnections button in the upper right hand corner of these category pages.

Let us know how you're related below. If you want to share your connection on social media with cousins and friends, click the "get shareable image" below the results, e.g. Mark Hamill and Charles Lindbergh. Then just upload it along with the URL of your direct connection. (Please refrain from sharing your connection on the featured profiles themselves, though. It clutters conversations on research and collaboration. Thanks!)

Help us with next week's Hitchcock feature by helping to choose and improve profiles for it.

During the day August Euler's relationship to mathematician Leonhard Euler was established in the tree, as well as the one to the Nobel price winners Ulf Svante von Euler-Chelpin and Hans von Euler-Chelpin. You might want to re-check your connection to him on Wednesday morning.

Also: Thanks for picking August Euler, Abby.

Most closely connected to McKennon-100, Maj. Pierce Winningham "Mac" McKennon, brother-in-law of my great-uncle. WWII ace pilot who died tragically in a plane crash while instructing a student pilot near Randolph Field in Texas.

(with great thanks to Lucy Selvaggio-Diaz for all her help with this profile)

Charles Lindbergh and Douglas McCurdy are closest, both at 17 degrees.  A close second is Evelyn Johnson at 18 degrees.  The only cousins are McCurdy (6th, 4x) and William Edwin Dyess (10th), both with unknown confidence.

Does anyone else find it odd that many of these profiles do not appear under Category:Aviators or any of the subcategories?  I'm tempted to blast through and add them, but don't want to step on too many toes.

I am most closely connected to Sofka Skipwith at 20 degrees.

But she was a typist not an aviator.

I think you have linked to the wrong profile.  It was her mother who was the aviator; Sofia Alekseevna Dolgorukova, 1887–1949.

by Joe Farler G2G6 Pilot (149k points)
Nice catch. There appears to be some information in her biography that should be attributable to her mother.

Interesting. It looks as if information for these two women was combined incorrectly.  The mother has a WikiTree profile, but it is sparse and only relies on FindAGrave.  She lived 1876-1951 according to that and 1887-1949 according to WikiPedia.

Does anyone have better information?  Unfortunately, we may be stuck with the daughter, simply because the mother is unconnected and has such as weak profile.  I suppose that connecting mother and daughter (not the case now) would solve part of the problem.

Attaching mother and daughter should be done asap, and the Connection will update by tomorrow.
(Not much we can do about the sparse biography, though.)

There's loads of information about Sofka in the book about her by her grand-daughter : Red Princes, A Revolutionary Life by Sofka Zinovieff ; Granta Books (4 Feb. 2008)  ISBN-10 ‏ : ‎ 1862079927  ISBN-13 ‏ : ‎ 978-1862079922

Also lots of info about her mother, the aviator, here: https://www.rbth.com/history/333249-sophia-dolgorukova-princess-pilot-and-driver

There is a question about the above posted WT profile being the correct person for Sofia's mother.  It seems that may be a different person, which would explain the dates being off.
That one is Ustinova, a different person.  .
I have attached the aviator mother whose profile will update as connected with the next database update. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bobrinskaya-2

Douglas McCurdy is closest to me at 17 degrees.  I am also 16 degrees from Sofia Skipworth but I gather that may change if the link was supposed to be to her mother. So then it should be 17 degrees since I go through her husband.
