Question about additions to the John Robert Kilduff profile.

I am about to enter the 11 children of  John Kilduff and Sarah (Buckridge) Kilduff into WikiTree. But the only source I have is "My Heritage"where I am a member. I do not have birth, marriage or death certificate numbers and would like to know if this organisation is a suitable source. I have also used " Hawkesbury Pioneer Register, Vol 1 & 2 before on his profile, but apparently this record is not acceptable. Please help.

I found this because I was looking for Kilduff questions. ( my 2x great-grandmother was a Kilduff).

There is a genealogy for this same family on FamilySearch.org with two sources.  One is called " A History of PItt Town" and I don't know if that's a book or what.  Maybe that will help/

Hey Graham,

This is always an interesting conversation on WikiTree.  But the best answer is this, add your information and research at the same time.  So my suggestion would be not to add a GEDCOM if it has no sourcing.

Many people want to add limbs to this big ole Tree that they have gotten from family members or found online.  Unfortunately, like you say, there are often no sources.  The intention is to do independent research and add supporting sources after creating the profiles.

Working back just a couple of generations (great grands maybe) works doing this approach, but if you want to go deeper, research should be done prior to adding beyond that.  Otherwise you're likely to accidentally create duplicates or cause other problems for other members who are working on our single family tree.

You will also want to review the Pre-1700 certification for lineages that go further back.
