I just put up photo 52 for the 2021 challenge.  Can I claim the badge?  I know you are not giving them going forward, but are you still giving them for the 2021 challenge?.

This is a photo taken in 1896 of my 3rd great aunt Jane McCleery. She was born on 6 Jul 1797, and she died on 27 Mar 1897. This was a favorite of my paternal grandmother's photos, and she often spoke about remembering the times she spent with her "Aunt Jenny", who lived to almost 100.

Wonderful, Alexis, with all the artifacts in the room, but what do you think the pole is beside her arm?
Pat, thank you for the nice comment and question. It looks like a pole, but it is part of her chair that she is sitting in—looks like it could be a rocking chair.
Amen photo Alexis of your 3rd great aunt I love the photo specially with the old furniture in the back thanks you for sharing
Thank you, Alexis. I see the rocker now.  I love the oval portrait on the wall.  It is a fascinating photo.
Susan, thank you for your sweet comment; we both love antiques.
Pat, I have wondered if anyone in the McCleery family still have any of the pictures in the background.

Most of you who are fortunate will post photos of relatives that lived long lives of perhaps 90 years or more.  This is my grandfather Charles Stielow who lived to age 71, which happens to be my current age.  http://wikitree.com/wiki/Stielow-19, Mom's father, was the only grandparent I met.  The other three died at age 43, 48 and 58.  My main memory of Charles was that he crumbled his crackers and dropped them in his soup bowl. But I also remember liking him.  I found this photo of him as a young man this year.  I never saw it before.  To me he lived a long life because I got to meet him.

My great grandfather, Ted Siefert, lived to be 95. He was known to be a farmer, storekeeper, horse trader, a master at bartering, and quite a character. I was fortunate to be around him for the first 8 years of my life. This picture is Ted holding a 6 month old me at Christmas 1965.

This picture is of Marie Marguerite Edna Goguen

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Goguen-769

She was the mother of a very close friend, she died on 22 September this year, at age 106, she would have celebrated her 107th birthday on 29 November of this year. I first met Edna about 50 years ago.

I attended her funeral in October 2022.

Her sisters were also long lived, her sister Rita died earlier this year at age 102, her sister Adeline died at age 103, her sister Irene died at age 97, her sister Alfreda died at age 91. The family has traced their history in Canada to many early immigrants to New France.

She is the 4 x great granddaughter of Joseph Goguen. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Goguen-10

and the seventh great granddaughter of https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Gueguen-1

'Allie' Lillie Alberta Boak (Umlah) Maclean (1888-1994) celebrating her 100th birthday on 14 Nov 1988, she would go on well into her 105th year......her older sister, May (my maternal grandmother) lived to within a few days of her 104th year.   Allie graduated from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1910, married a surgeon (Major) Walter Maclean MD in 1912 and went on to serve in the Women's Reserve Ambulance Corps at Peel House, London during WWI.   On 10 Nov 1917 her husband, Walter, lost his life during a bombing raid, as he stepped out of the operating room, on the WWI front lines in Belgium.  Allie would have their daughter, Marjorie, on 23 Feb 1918, who would live on to the age of 94 in 2012.

John, thank you for sharing the wonderful newspaper photo and story about your Grand Aunt Allie.
Thank you for sharing this, John. How pleasing that she had an afternoon tea.  It is special when a person reaches 100.
Alexis, it is a coincidence that this photo challenge came up close after Remembrance Day when I had been thinking about your mother's situation, and others......Allie's husband's parents had an interesting place in Canada's history, which I am looking forward to documenting.
Pat, Allie also lived and was buried at Hantsport, Nova Scotia......I often wonder about my mother's ancestors and relatives crossing paths with with your Prichards and Bartletts in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Yes,  John, they may have crossed paths.  My great grandfather's sister, Mary Prichard married Edmund Smith who had a store "Smith Brothers" in Halifax at the time Allie was in the city. http://wikitree.com/wiki/Smith-192108

Pat, their paths certainly did pass.....connected through his wife, Mary Prichard, and my mother's brother's wife, Christina (recently connected), as well as, Kathy's first husband, Clifford.laugh

Wow. Great stuff, John. surprise
