Can you merge different surnames.

My maternal Surname is Pults. The original surname was Boltz.. Variations of this surname are: Boltz, Bolts, Bolt, Pults, Pultz, Puls, Pulse and Pulce. These surnames change frequently even within a single family unit. What needs to be done in order to merge individuals from this Boltz family?

I've tried to enter multiple surnames but that didn't work. Would it work if I enter "or" between each variation in the surname search? This Boltz family is quite large with all the variations. There are so many merges possible if I knew how to pull up a list wist all the Surname variations. Can you help?

Are you talking about merging two profiles of the same person? If so, yes, you can merge people with different last names. Just make sure that the profile you're merging into has the correct last name. In other words, ID 2 on the merge page should have the correct last name: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:MergePerson

As for searching, you can only search for one last name at a time.

I'm not sure I've fully answered your questions. Let me know if you need further help!
