Have constructed a tree on another service tracing my Ward family. Evidently Seth Ward is the British ancestor, and he came over to Henrico VA around 1595. But conflicting sources on where he lived before he came to Virginia: Bassingbourn Cambridgeshire or Sheffield Yorkshire?

That date - 1595 - can't be right. Jamestown was founded in 1607.

There's a will of Seth Warde, yeoman, of Abbington Cambs, probate 20 June 1598. He mentions:
Wife Annis
Sons John, Enos or Enoshe, Thomas
Daughters Mary, Anne Jacob
Elizabeth, daughter of Anne Jacob
John, Seth, sons of son John (both under the age of 21)
Anne, Martha, Alice, Mary, daughters of son John
Robert, brother of testator

Also: Seth Warde, laborer, dwelling in a tenement in Abbington, but his relationship is not stated. I'm not sure if there is one younger Seth Warde or two.

There are three places in Cambridgeshire called Abington: Great Abington, Little Abington, and Abington Pigotts. I was't sure which of them was the right one, but here is a record of Seth Warde, of Abington juxta Shingey, contributing to the defence against the Spanish Armada in 1588. Shingey is next to Bassingbourn and Abington Pigotts.

I live in Cambridgeshire and have visited the Abington which is included in the current larger town of Bassingbourn. I am pretty sure this is the right Abington, because some sources mention Seth Warde is from Bassingbourn. They are essentially the same place today and probably were in the 16th Century.
