Add Afrikaans as a Language

Can we please add Afrikaans as a langauge on the drop down list.

I think the problem with this is that the dropdown list is based on data from FamilySearch, and if they don't have an Afrikaans category in their database, we won't get any results if we choose Afrikaans as the language.  I completely support your request, but I think it's a FamilySearch problem rather than a WikiTree problem (though WikiTree doesn't have its own location database yet, which could possibly be fixed).

I agree with the request to add afrikaans to the dropdown list. It is the first language of almost 7 million people in South Africa. Most of the older (already deceased) generation spoke only Afrikaans.

Hi Christa. Sorry, this will be a disappointing response.

The language setting only affects the way location name suggestions appear. Those suggestions, and the languages available, come from FamilySearch Places. As Ian commented above, only FamilySearch could add more languages, not WikiTree.

The language setting does not represent the language spoken by the person represented by the profile. See
