According to my research Maria was the daughter of Jean Nicholas Dorey and yes she had a son with a John George Robar, but the son was not given the father's last name but was called John George Dorey, who had a son Henry Benejamin who had a son William who had a son Archibald who would b e my grandfather.    Alice Wile

Maria had two sons out of wedlock as they called it until recently and she named them both John after their father John Robar

They were not married because there was not Luthern Church established here in the new settlement of Lunenburg at that time

Likely the reason to name both of them John was to insure the continuing existence of the name John which was the name of the Father and also a well known name in the Dare' line

Many settlers would not take up the Anglican religion because Luthern was their church of faith and both the Dorey's (Dare') and the Robarts (Robars) were Luthern

If your looking into the history of this family you will see that they did get married and that took place after a luthern Minster was brought here from Pen in the USA

After that the rest of the children assumed the name Robar

Maria was the daughter of Nicholas Dare'
