I live in Southern California Y'all - my research is on Baker, Bridges, Shaw, Darby, Paylor and Williams, with a few others tossed in. mostly from around Missouri and Kansas.

I'm having one small problem on the compare files when they don't match with a name -

I checked the "Red" radio button but how do I either delete that match or make it go away???

thank you in advance

Bill

PS  yes theis looks like a great site starting up.

Welcome to WikiTree the friendliest place on earth. I'd say happiest but that's trademarked.

Hi Bill and welcome. My Grandmother was a Baker. Most of the Bakers in my family are from Louisiana.
Welcome to WikiTree Bill:

My second great-grandmother on my mother side of my family was a Baker. Most of the Bakers in my family are from northern Ohio. Some of the Bakers spelled their last name Becker. It's the old spelling.
Hello Christopher Welsh

Thank you for your suggestion I have thought that "Becker"was a German spelling for Baker I pretty much think that my Bakers are fron around England - But I might be suprised some day especially if I get a DNA started. I'll try using Becker as an alternate for my next search

Thanks for you help

Bill Baker/Becker

Hello Bill, Williams is a popular surname. Mine goes back to Ireland and then Wales. Neath Glamorgan Shire Wales in the 1600's with John Williams is the earliest I know about. He relocated to Monaghan County in Ireland. Some descendants settled in NC, my line, Ann Williams, left Ireland for Western PA with her husband and children in 1792. Does this sound similar to your Williams line? Frank

Thanks for the friendly welcome - My Williams family are very new compared to yours - well I should say I don't know much about them so far. They were my Mother's Mother's family They lived in southern Missouri near Springfield. maybe some day we'll link together - Isn't that what this mission is all about

Good luck and thanks again

Aloha Bill.

The way I make the matches that do not match go away is to close the "tab" that opened with the comparison.  The original page is still open (on my computer using Safari) so that you do not need to start over.

I hope that helps.  You might want to ask your question again in the Request for Genealogy Help or Tech sections (use the drop down menu to select the section).  That will open it to a wider audience of helpers.

I don't see any names on your list yet that match my list.  But my cousin is married to a Baker and they are in Southern California!

Thank you for the warm welcome - /\/\/\waves/\/\/\ from the mainland- My Baker branch is very small like 4 twigs and only a few leaves that's why I'm researching them. There doesn't seem to be much information on ancestry.com's site on my line of Baker I might have to use my DNA to find what or who's Baker family I belong to.

Thanks again good luck with your studies

Bill
