Why does my connection to AJ change?

I was wondering if a WikiTree program causes our  connections to AJ to change automatically as the system finds new paths?  I was 27 steps from AJ and now this morning I'm finding I am 25 steps and showing a different path to my family line.

Also, what do the colors mean that highlight the names?  I have a few green highlights but a majority are yellow highlights over the names.  Thanks.

Hi James,

I 'think' its because as the tree grows new connection paths are formed smiley

As for the colours <(kiwi/uk spelling!) ... I have no clue but no doubt someone here will answer that question for you soon.

Thank you  Nicky. That helps. I see that my question about the colors...err..colours LOL...was answered below..:)

You are most welcome ... cuz! smiley My connection to AJ is not yet showing, but all in good time, and regardless, we are all cuzzys!

The colours represent groups of related people. So for example, a stretch of the connection chart that is highlighted green means that all of those people are related by blood. Then when it switches to orange, it means the relationship between those two people is through marriage. Then that section of orange highlighted people are all related until there is a marriage relationship and the colour switches again. I hope that this was an understandable explanation!

This is an excellent explanation, and now I understand how the colors work.  It was always a mystery to me what they meant. Thank you for clarifying that.

as new connections are made  it changes how we connect to AJ

Not sure on the colors but if you click the show generational path  it will show your connection also

Thank you Jacky. It's more clear to me now. :)
