"We are determined... to work and fight until justice runs down like water, and righteousness like a mighty stream."

For Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the US Black Heritage Project would like to honor the lives of some of his associates by improving their biographies and their connections!

  • Bayard Taylor Rustin, an aide to Dr. King and an LGBTQ+ advocate, could use a great narrative biography. His CC7 is 82.

  • Rev. C.T. Vivian, who was in Dr. King's inner circle, is in an unconnected branch of 48 people.

  • Activist and NAACP leader Ella Josephine Baker has a CC7 of 143. We can improve that!

  • Benjamin Elijah Mays was the sixth president of Morehouse College. His biography could use some details about his career. His CC7 is 186.

  • Rev. Charles Kenzie Steele Sr., Baptist preacher and a leader of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference has a good biography, but is not connected to the Global Tree and has a branch size of only eleven!

If anyone who uses the WikiTree Browser Extension wants to find holes in the trees for our notables, use this link,

https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special%3AMyConnections&w=Carey-6470

but replace the Wiki-ID with the person you're working on. Click the Missing Connections Table button for each generation to find missing family members. After the table loads, click on that button again if you want to see the simplified version and not the table.

This works whether they're connected or not!

I'll be checking out C.T. Vivian's branch to see where I can add some profiles.
