We are looking for Walter A. Cox's family born near Eldon, MO on March 15,1896

Question

Walter A. Cox changed his name to William A. Cook around 1939.  Walter/william may have been Cherokee moving through the Eldon, MO area at the time of his birth. He was in WW1 with the 130th machinegun Battalion Company C. He died July 26, 1958. He married Cecil (Cecile, Cecilia) Philpot in 1928. We have a copy of the original marriage certificate. My Grandmother may have been adopted by the Philpots. My daughter and I have check with the military, national guard, Trustees of deeds, Museums, newspapers, obituary's and Churches on both of my grandparents.

How are you sure he changed his first name.I have done over 7000 searches

never ran across a first name change.Seen last name changes.

Thank you for your help Wayne. He changed his first name to William, last name to Cook and left Albert as his middle name. His son's military records confirm this. I also have a copy of an affidavit signed by my grandmother confirming this information for my father when he joined the Marines.
