I had a great aunt Minnie who went to NZ before 1960, I know she had children, I suspect that other parts of the family went south as well.  What data sources do you have in NZ that can be accessed via the internet?

What is her full name David ? I'll see if I can find her on an electoral roll for you.

Hi Nicky,

Thanks for your reply and offer of assistance. Minnie Waters b. about 1885

I also had an Aunt Minnie Attwood nee Sims, born 1876.

Iwill have a look using the geneology link as I believe at least two other Sims went to NZ and Australia and I suspect other Waters went to NZ as well.

Part of my problem is that I need to use some trial and error until I can be sure I have got a positive relative, then I can work around that person.

Thanks again for your offer of help and the link.

Regards

Hi David :) I'll see if I can find her. *fingers x'ed* smiley

Theres just one Minnie Waters showing up - middle name Blanche ? She never married. She is on the 1911, 1914, 1928, 1935, 1938, 1946, 1949, 1954  &1957 electoral rolls. Living in Auckland on the North Shore.

The only Minnie Attwood 's I can find are three Dorothy Minnie Attwood's and a Minnie Lister Attwood.

The Dorothy Minnie's are all only appearing on the 1928 roll, one in Waikato,a spinster, one in Auckland East also a spinster, and one in Parnel who is also a spinster. So its none of those ladies. They all vanish off the rolls after '28 too. Its quite odd!

Minnie Lister Attwood is on the 1919, 1928, 1935, 1938, 1946, 1949, 1954, 1957,  1963, & 1969 rolls, living in Canterbury. She is married to an accountant named Horace smiley

Thanks,

Minnie Lister Attwood fits with half remembered comments about a great aunt Minnie Sims who married a bloke called Attwood.  Minnie Waters also looks possible, she was born in about 1875 in Hadlow Kent, most of the Waters women lived into their nineties, she would have been between about 81 and 88 when she stopped registering to vote.

What a great start to the weekend.

Regards

Dave Waters
