Who is the father of Heyden-12?

My question is about the Research Notes on Heyden-12 in entirety now:

"Francis Hayden of Maryland does not document his origins or give any hint as to where he was from. Therefore, it has not been possible to confirm that Francis Hayden of Maryland is the same person as Francis Haydon baptised in 1628 at Watford, Hertfordshire.[4]

There was another Francis Haydon baptised in 1628 at Farway, Devon.[5] He was a younger son of William Haydon and Ebbett Searle. In 1656, he was a legatee in the will of his brother Symon Haydon.[6] Symon left the residue of his estate to his siblings Thomas, John, Francis, Grace and Sarah. Their father William Haydon was still alive at the time and was the sole executor of the will. William Haydon died in January 1662/63.[7]

Francis Hayden of Maryland named his son William, and William named his eldest daughter Grace. His sister Mary named her son Simon. Other than the use of the same first names in both families, there is no indication that Francis Haydon of Farway is the Francis Hayden of Maryland.

Since Francis Haydon of Farway, Devon, is buried at Farway, he can't be the Francis Hayden of Maryland.

His wife, Thomasine Butler, was born in Virginia. They were married in British Colonial America. So he couldn't have brought her when he immigrated from England.

Francis Heydon born in 1628 at Watford had mother Frances not Elinor/Ellin/Eleanor as below:

Francis, son of Edward Haydon & Francis, was baptised on 14 August 1628 in St Marys, Watford, Hertford, England.[8]"

Questions:

1. Who is the author of these notes?
2. If were are identifying 2 Francis Haydon orHeydon's baptized in 1628, and the one from Farway, Devon, was buried in Devon, then might we reasonably conclude that the Francis Heydon of Maryland was the one baptized at Watford, Hertfordshire, in the same year, and thus has the parents Edward and Francis Heydon (or Haydon) of that place?

I am actively researching this profile as part of investigating my direct parental lineage and thus have a personal interest. My own family geneaologies show ancestors back from William Haydon or Heyden from Hertfordshire, whom I suspect is the Maryland Francis Heydon's father, and with that I can trace back 600 more years since I have the names from others' research. Therefore I am focusing on Heyden-12's origins.

Thank you very much!

FH

In answer to your question 1, look at the change log on Dec 14, 2020 to find the original creation of the research notes. A few  changes were made to the research notes on May 20, 2021 by a different person.

As part of question 2 scrolls off the screen, it is difficult to answer.
Thanks, yes, learned about the changes tab. I should have tried pasting my question differently so the text did not scroll out of the box. I thought would align once posted.

Hii,

Some members of the managed profiles team belonging to the England Project looked into the Heydons (various spellings) including myself. We have transcribed various older wills trying to ascertain the relationships.

Looking back at the change log it appears it is me that put some of those notes. I'll make a list of the wills I have on my watchlist but there are others that other people transcribed.

Please feel free to message me.

Ann

Thanks much LMK if I can help with any part!

Hi Francis,  Ann and I worked on the Heydons together at the beginning of last year. I made the edit to add the baptism record. Looking back on it, it looks like it was to show that he was attached to the wrong parents (also Heydons of Watford - link to the disconnected father Edward Heydon here). I can move that baptism comment to Research Notes as I can see it would be the source of some confusion now.

There is also a third, more monied family of Henry Heydon of Watford whose descendants became merchants in the City of London during the 17th century, also not related to your Heydon emigrant that we could see.

You know I have a cousin who seems to be a genealogist and apparently there is plenty of mystery around this ancestor. I am going to digest what he sent and check his sources. Who knew there was so much work already done and dead ends so far! Thanks for leads!!!
There were plenty of Heydons in Watford, but was your ancestor from Watford? That's what we need to find out. It would be brilliant if we could find an English will which mentions a Francis Heydon in Maryland.
That would!! BTW is DNA testing likely to be helpful at all, if includes some brits over there?
I prefer a paper trail personally, it’s going a long w at back for dna in my opinion.

Others might disagree but that’s my stance.

Regards,

Ann
I suppose can be a good tool to confirm if you have 2 groups of possible progeny based on traditional genealogical methods. BTW I am SO new to this. Psychiatrist in NY. Joined couple months ago. Very jazzed! Just not a lot of time so I work in spurts!

I too am descended from the maryland Francis Hayden.  Most research that I have done leads me to believe that he is the Francis of Watford.  I come down through Mary , who married a Reeder and named her son Simon .  He moved on to SC.

Thanks, Melinda. I am getting so much pushback to the Watford theory for so many cogent-sounding reasons. Can you share with me what you have. Feel free to email I can put it with my other sources and mull it over! Something new would be great!
