I have information to contribute to the profile of Richard Caswell III. This is what I can add: Clarification on two unknown Smiths. The first was married to Richard Caswell II. She is unknown Smith Caswell. She was the mother of R Caswell III. She was also the sister of William Smith, who was married to an unknown Smith being her married name. Caswell III was given to Wm Smith and his unknown wife to be raised after both of Caswell III parents died. Wm Smith's wife soon died. Wm Smith and Caswell III then immigrated to America. The primary source for three files is contain in Richard Caswell's biography. The information is there in three files; it is confusing as there are 5 Richard Caswell's, 2 Wm Smith's and two unknown Smith's. The unknown Smith's are clearly a wife and a sister. we can talk merges later.
