G2G: How to iterpret this 1901 census data

I have collected some census data for a specific female ancestor.

This photo shows the last few columns of my spreadsheet, which are preceded by 11 other columns containing the ancestor's children's details.

Are these entries for children who who died in birth or during pregnancy? The dates are all 1901 ... the year of this particular census.

Or, might it mean that, in the last 10 years, between censuses, the mother lost four children during pregnancy or childbirth?

Your link just goes back to the original question you posed.  Could you give us another link that goes to the census in question, or perhaps to the lady's profile?

Thank you Ros. It does indeed. This might be because the link is to my Google Drive ... but I have profile links to my Google Drive that work fine.

Please see Pauls response below.

It isn't entirely clear to me how you produced your spreadsheet and therefore where the extra columns came from. Here is a free-to-view image of the 1901 census, showing Fred and Alice are the last children listed and they are followed by a lot of lodgers - https://www.ancestry.co.uk/sharing/1532755?mark=77ebe04a258d4477c64eb71a4f65235acb4c0ae3b62b07705f2f37f931f30edf.

According to the 1911 census there were 13 children in total who were born alive, 3 had died and 10 were still alive in 1911 - https://www.ancestry.co.uk/sharing/1532785?mark=07ea6ad70944fbea1e170f644faa3c14836788c12e2312a73d6cbb6b8e28d42b.

If you want to magnify the above free-to-view images, in Chrome first right-click on the image and select "Open image in new tab". Then in the address bar delete the last part where it says "&maxWidth=520". (There is probably an equivalent way to do it in other browsers, but I only know how to do it in Chrome)

Thank you Paul. I had forgotten to record that 13 children in total were born alive, but that 3 had died, leaving 10 still alive. This answers my question.

From speaking to living Machells, I am led to beleive that Fanny actually had 15 children; but this is anecdotal. I will take the 13 as correct.

Kind regards
John

In case you are interested, I think I have found one of the children who died (using the GRO index at https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/):

Birth:

MACHELL, NELLIE    Mother's Maiden Surname: BORROUGHS

GRO Reference: 1909  M Quarter in WHARFEDALE  Volume 09A  Page 144

Death:

MACHELL, NELLIE    Age at Death (in years): 0

GRO Reference: 1909  J Quarter in WHARFEDALE  Volume 09A  Page 113

Paul, thank you very much indeed.

I did discover that Fanny and Charles are buried with Nellie in an unmarked plot in Yeadon cemetry.

However, I had not yet determined whether this was one of the children, or Nellie, wife of Charile. With hidsight it is rather obvious. I should not work when I am tired!

Kind regards, John
