What is the purpose of the copy reference function on blank change details pages? [closed]

Question

While perusing the Changes log for a profile, I noticed a cut/paste function icon with mouse-over text saying "Copy Reference" on Change Details page in the referenced profile's log: https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=McCune-1213&diff=prev&oldid=139909618 .

I wondered how and why someone would use the copied reference.

I also wondered if this functionality was part of an extension or part of WikiTree's main code.

Just curious, as I hadn't seen or heard of this functionality before.

edit: I forgot to edit the title to remove the word blank. At first, I thought the icon was only on pages that were blank (no apparent changes) in the Changed Information section. Later I saw the icon on the other pages. Doh!

I am 'assuming' it is from an extension option because I do not see it and I do have extensions in use, but not an option that you must have turned on.

I hadn't checked my settings for the WikiTree Browser Extension lately. I am now up to date on its features.

I'm not sure about the 'blank' in the question, but the 'Reference' button on 'Change Details' pages is a requested addition to the 'Scissors' feature of the WBE. In a certain project, it's expected that people will add who did what and when to the profiles themselves (though I'm not exactly sure why). The 'Reference' button can help them do that.
