Advice before editing this pre-1700 Clay profile?

Question

I have information to contribute to the profile of John Clay. This is what I can add: A newspaper article from 1986 that traces the Clay family from Itawamba, MS back to Jamestowne, Va and back to Wales. I would like to add to Clay-10. 

These are the sources I am using: Itawamba County Times 2 July 1986. 

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

Insert more details of what you want to add (a relative? a date?), and describe the sources which support this. The kinds of sources required for pre-1700 profiles are described at this link.

Unfortunately John both an image and the text of this fairly recent newspaper article may be copyright. It would be safer to paraphrase the relevant information from the article instead of quoting it directly. You could quote small sections, in quotation marks, under fair use. See

Clay-10 is a Project Protected Profile.  You would need to contact the US Southern Colonies Project and discuss with them what you want to add.
