My eyes are getting crossed but I cannot figure out what's wrong with my inline citation. Here is the error:

Inline citation error Help →i;dFa;i;<ref name=FaG>;i;i;dFold3-;i;dfold3-;i;nfold3-1;i;i;i;r

WikiTree profile: Irvin Johnson
in WikiTree Help by Laura Ward G2G6 Mach 5 (53.9k points)
The first instance of a named reference should contain all the source information.  Subsequent uses of the named reference should be something such as <ref name=nameused /> with a space between the /> and the end of the name.

I am unsure if your use of a number such as 3-1 is generating the error, but have you tried enclosing those ref names in "quote" marks?  That, or think of a more individual name for each, so there's no need for the number-1 number-2 etc.  (Just my thoughts, anyway.)

Also, it is recommended (by Find a Grave) that the abbreviation for Find a Grave be FG, not the more common abbreviation that causes distress to some.

It looks like you already fixed it in this change:

https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Johnson-116586&diff=166857981&oldid=166204189

By adding the missing "/" characters.

I marked it as fixed which should stop the suggestion showing up. It will then be rechecked next time the weekly suggestions report is generated.

where ever you see the 'ref name' or 'ref' for that Suggestion, that indicates where the problem is, either it wasn't defined correctly or missing an ending slash, extra ref or ending ref
I believe what confused me was that I made an edit, saved the profile, then went back to edit again and still saw that error message at the bottom of the page. I assumed it would disappear if I corrected the error. I guess not; I need to mark it fixed even if I'm not sure I fixed it?
Yes, the suggestions that are at the bottom are generated once a week. So they have to be marked as fixed to make it disappear. BUT if you don't mark it and you fixed it, it would not be there next week if you edited the profile.

There are other warnings that may be just below the comment page  if you have Browser Extension and BioCheck turned on in the Options

Those will disappear if a change is made and it recheck the profile before saving it.
That's right, those update weekly, not in real time (so you can either mark it fixed or wait for the next update).
Would you please direct me to where I can learn more about Browser Extension and BioCheck?

Under the Help in Menu, select Apps.  Down near the bottom, you will find the Extensions.

  • Browser Extension is one that several developers have worked on.  Make sure to check the Options once it is installed to turn on some options that might be turned off.
  • Sourcer is another extension that many of us use that can help creating narrative or citations for sources on ancestry, family search, as well as other sites.  Again, make sure to check the options. That extension has options for general use, as well as for each site.
  • BioCheck has some parts of it built into the Browser Extension, if you turn that option on.  It also can be run as a stand alone to check for sources and style issues in profiles.
