Help needed finding parents for Henry Hopkins abt. 1860 Ireland

Question

Hello all,

I've hit a brick wall on my 3rd Great Grandad, his name was Henry Hopkins abt. 1860 from Ireland although no birth record was found so I cannot be sure he wasn't born in another location.

He had a son called Isaac Hopkins born 1895 although Isaac states on other documents his birth was 1893.

Henry had Isaac with Catherine possibly Burke (the birth record is difficult to decipher) no marriage record has been sourced.

I am completely stuck on Henry, I have workhouse records circa 1895 - 1901 and a census record 1901 but beyond that, I have hit a wall and have run out of ideas, any help would be appreciated.

Hi Nicola,

Isaac's birth register definitely says Burke for Catherine's maiden name.

Could you share the 1901 census record? That should give his county of birth.

Thank you for the confirmation on the name Burke, I was unsure due to the odd shaping of the letter B 

The census record I found has some discrepancies but I do believe it may be for Henry and Isaac.

It doe state birth as County Wicklow

Hi I dont wan to steer you wrong  Ive got an Edward Hopkins My 2nd or 3rd G Grannd pa fron Wiklow im nervous and dessotive now   check my tree if you understand Dna there ar not many attached He is from Corndog hope it helps im Gerry under wiki Id Hopkins -1976

Great to hear from you. My Hopkins ancestors pre 1850 have been a brick wall I've worked tirelessly to break but with minor success but I am always hoping for a breakthrough.

I have compared our dna tests on Gedmatch and we do in fact match on 2 segments with the highest cM being 5.7.

I look forward to discussing our connection further and hope we can find a connection to your ancestor Edward Hopkins.

Thats amazing!  I forgot to mention Nichola, that This information was form a sweet Cousin that I met on Ancestry.  Some days my health is You may have to wait a few days to get a proper reply due to my Health issues my emails are confusing some time when Im stressed I have only to share what another cousin so kindly has shared with me Edward Was born in Wiklow Ireland I will find the info for you  It may be in family search .  Please remind me to get back to you.  I Know Its my uncle Clifford in my tree sared to my father Harold Cliffords Private living Child shares @ 742 % think over 22 segments 11%  Im def related tired now Nite!

Hello Gerry,

I found a marriage record on Family Search for Edward Hopkins and Eliza Stewart. It states that Edward's parents were Edward and Jane Hopkins.

I will follow the trail and let you know if I make any discoveries.
