Hi folks, I'm new to genealogy having started on 31st December - a whole 5 weeks ago! Still getting my head around how Wikitree works, but when I understand it better I'll be happy to add my bit to the tree. In the meantime, I have a "brick wall" question. Two questions actually.

Using MyHeritage and other websites I appear to have an unbroken direct male line to Torf "the rich" d'Harcourt (920-1013), which is much further back than I anticipated being able to go, and naturally made me a little sceptical of the whole process. I've read that around 25% of the UK population is descended from the Normans though, so maybe this isn't so unlikely? Lots of these sites suggest Bernard the Dane as his father and Sprote as his mother, with Wikitree the only dissenting voice. Does anyone here have any knowledge of Bernard and Sprote?
