My ancester is Elizabeth Burness Born 1799,is she one of Robert Burns illigitamit daughters

My 2nd great grandmother is Betty Burness born around 1852,daughter of David Herd and Elizabeth Burness,born 1799.Is this Elizabeth Burness born 1799 an illigitamit child of Robert Burns the poet.I have looked at the family tree but it does'nt say who this Elizabeth's father was.Please help

I am also a grand child of both these people and I live in Canada. The answer to your question is NO, Elizabeth Burness is the daughter of John Burness who is the brother of Robert Burns. This Elizabeth Burness was married to David Herd. This Elizabeth had a daughter also named Elizabeth but was shortened to Betty. Betty's last name is listed as Burness though, and she had a son born in 1852, his name was George MacLair HERD and he was sent to Canada in about 1858-59. George eventually settled at Perth, Ontario and then somewhere around 1879 moved west and settled in Victoria B.C. Canada. George married  Mary McPherson Crawford and they had 3 sons, Alfred, Hope Alexander, Sinclair. Hope was my grandfather and actually lived with my family at times so I remember him, but he died in 1967 and is buried at the Bowen Ave. cemetary in Nanaimo B.C. Canada. I would be happy to share with you what I have but I have no Pic's.
