As soon as I started doing genealogy, twenty-six years ago, I quickly found that the most efficient use of resources was to "dig where I stood" and began to transcribe 18th century church records, and then to systematise the transcripts to the best of my ability. I later learned that this form of genealogy was called a "One Place Study". To me, it has always felt more important to document the entire parish rather than my own little family tree, where you can waste countless hours on a wild-goose search all over the country.
Some may call it drudgery, but it's what I do. And I like that my work is being appreciated
