G2G: New member introducing myself

I am looking for information on my maternal like for Kate Coughlan. The 1871, 1881 Census indicate her parents as Joseph Coughlan and Catherine (Hickey) - Canada, Alnwick New Brunswick, however, her marriage record to James Ferguson (1895) and death certificate indicate her parents as "unknown" "Inconnu". Ancestry DNA testing (I am new at this so still sifting through information) seems to indicate do not have DNA connections to Joseph Coughlan. Looking to confirm who her parents were.

Hi Tammy,

I searched the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick and found Catherine's death certificate but unfortunately, it doesn't list her parents. I have added it to the profile. Check the archive for more information. There are more options under the search drop down menu including Daniel F Johnson's newspaper archives.

Let me know if I can help further.

Thanks Peggy! Yes, I have her death certificate on my Ancestry account. That is the mystery - her death certificate and her marriage records say parents "unknown" despite Census information that leads you to believe that her parents are Joseph and Catherine (Hickey) Coughlan. I have Ancestry DNA results but don't have the skills yet to sift through the info to identify people that I have matches with that aren't part of the family tree as I currently know that may be either of her parents. Right now I suspect that Joseph Coughlan was not her father  but Catherine (or someone in her family) is the mother based on the DNA matches.  Anyway going to keep digging. Appreciate your time!

If you want to add records from the New Brunswick archives (or other Canadian archives), use this guide to create citations:

If you want to include the records on Ancestry, add the WikiTree Sourcer browser extension and it will create the citations for you with sharing links that anyone can view. The info on this can be found on the App page. Look for it under the Find drop down menu.

Thanks!
