I have Nancy Ann Hamilton married to William B. Hampton in 1851.

Question

I am courious as to whether this family story has any basis. so are I have not been able to trace this line any farther back than Nancy's parents: Edmund Hamilton and Louisa. I have no date of marriage for them, but I have then listed as having 9 children.

The Ancestral File submission for Nancy Ann Hamilton shows her birth 9 Jun 1836, IL. death is 27 June 1881, IL.

She married William B. Hampton 29 May 1851

She married James W. Gibson 3 Sep 1864, James and Nancy had Lourella Tiora 2 July 1868 she died 16 Mar 1956. David J. 17 Jul 1865 (he died 8 Oct 1871) Nancy R. was b. 28 Jul 1871 and died 1 Sep 1872.

Nancy Hamilton's father is shown as Edward Hamilton.

I have all that information, but I can't find anything on her grandfather. Also, all I have on her mother is Louisa J. FamilySearch has a Jane Louisa Elder as being married to the same Edmund Hamilton. When I last checked, no children were shown for Jane Louisa Elder and her Edmund Hamilton. 

 

I know show people have her father's name as either Edmund or Edward.
