G2G: I'm Lawrence (Larry) Porter. My great grandmother was Margaret Ellen Burtner Porter. .

Question

I a looking for information on Margaret Ellen Burtner's husband, Henry J. Porter. He was born in 1834. They were married in 1865 and moved shortly after to Leavenworth KS. Margaret came back to Pittsburgh and Butler with their two children still living, my grandfather Leland Burtner Porter and great aunt, Althea Porter. I have some confusing information on Henry. Would appreciate any help. Thank you.

I did a quick google search for Henry J. Porter b. 1834 and several showed up but I don't think any were your Henry J. Porter.   I think a little more info would be helpful. where lived etc.

another thing you can do is use the family trees on other sites like ancestry.com or familysearch.org.

I know about both Henrys. The reason for the Henry born in 1834 is the 1870 census in KS he states his age as 36. Then he says he was born in PA. The other Henry,, which I think is the same person, in the 1875 Census KS took, he sasy he's 30 and born in Ohio. I've been chasing information on almost every site I can find to figure this out. But I'm settling on the Henry whose father is Andrew Porter. Now I'm seeking information on why, when they came back from KS, Margaret is in Washington, PA with Leland, Althea, their other daughter, is in Butler, a servant at 13. Henry is back with his father Andrew. I want to find out what happened to bring this about. How would I put a note out for anyone who might have any information about this? Thanks Beth.
