Coroner’s report

Question

Can you tell me if it would be beneficial to search for the Cornors Report  for my cousin who was murdered in 1994?  Would it give any special information?

I have never seen a coroner's report before, but I collect and have many death certificates. Some are detailed on how the person died and some aren't. Maybe you could try to obtain a death certificate. I have one relative that had a shootout in a small town with the sheriff and lost. It was detailed by the coroner on the death certificate. One of my husbands' cousins was murdered on the steps of a courthouse and it was written on the death cerificate who shot her. Good luck

Thank you.  I know this cousin was shot by his best friend (both were drunk).  I have never seen a cornor’s report either & was hoping someone who had seen one could advise me.  Appreciate your thoughts on this. Death certificates in Canada do not give very much information.

The profile can benefit from many different resources. Many of them reinforce the information that's already in the profile. You may want to consider what details you would like remembered for.

I would be very cautious about reading a coroner's report for someone you knew. There may be unintentionally upsetting things in there that are "business as usual" for a coroner, but that you may not want a mental picture of.

Nothing in a corners report would really surprise me.  Just thought of this the other day and was wondering if it was wise to get it or not.  This was a tragic "accident" from the families perspective.  Very tragic for my Uncle whose son this was.  All we were told was that they had been drinking and somehow my 1st cousin was shot by his "best friend".  I would have to order this as it happened in 1994.
