I have another question about the terminology used on these early Tennessee land register. A name is placed on the bottom right hand portion of the entry that looks like "Lod-" or something similar.  What does that stand for?

Thanks - Jim Harris

I don't know. sorry. but I have family in TN and so searched for

https://sos-tn-gov-files.tnsosfiles.com/forms/EARLY_TENNESSEE_LAND_RECORDS_1773-1922.pdf

It has a good summation of what the land records were and the history of them.

I would imagine that the 'LOD' is like Dr or Lawyer designation. That it shows the person is qualified to sign on the document.

Hopefully, someone in WikiTree will know
