I have a picture that is labeled as Mark B Rockwell, which would be this Mark. He appears to be in a Spanish-American war uniform and appears to be about the right age for the person in the picture. However, I can't find any records of his ever having been in the military, having looked for the records on Fold3.
So, does anyone know how complete the Spanish-American war records are generally or how complete they are on Fold3? Are there branches of our current military (JAG corp in this case) that were not included in military records back then?
Edit: I've been trying to figure out what's on his hat. The insignia looks rather odd in that there appear to be letters (possible ONE, but hard to make out) above the crossed riffles(?) with the letter "C" below. All of the others from the Spanish-American war seem to have numerals rather than letters. Additionally, he appears to be wearing a checkered shirt. (visible at the cuffs) He also seems to be lacking the usual shoulder adornments indicating any rank. Finally, his pose is also rather unusual. I'd personally wonder if this was a prank or Halloween costume, except for the age of all of the rest of the photographs in the album.
