McClarean-1 is a redirected user, which cannot be changed.
I added Maclaren-today

I've done a bit of reformatting so that Biography isn't all in caps, but otherwise, all looks OK.

Hi Wayne,

So, if I'm reading this correctly, you changed the last name at birth for McLarean-1 to 'McClaren', thereby creating McClaren-284. Now McLarean-1 doesn't exist and the system automatically redirects anyone who wants McLarean-1 to McClaren-284. Future changes have to be made to McClaren-284.

Could you say more about the problem that you're having, which you want resolved? (Or please correct me if I've misunderstood.)

I have the same question, my friend.  I am sure they will give you an answer.

Hi Edward, can you give a bit more detail about the issue you are having? What profile(s) are you having a problem with?

I tried to reply with email, it was a dead email address.

I am a little concerned about this comment from the manager of cain-569 comments, concerning the last paragraph (see below).  How do you deal with a person that responds with this kind of comment, but will not provide my request for his source material so we can work together to clear up the issues causing me troubles.  My concern is people want to merge these records and I will still have the same problem.  Cains from Augusta County and Cains of Russell County are not linked together with William Cain.  I could not find any solid references supporting Edmund Cain (cain-183) son of Nicholas Cain (cain-462) and father of William Riley Cain's place or date of birth.

Online trees claim his middle name was Riley, as his son's was (William Riley Cain (abt.1814-1885)), but there is no documentary evidence showing a middle name or initial.

William Cain was living with his son Ephraim in the 1860 Census in Russell County, KY. Instructions were to list all persons living at the residence on 1 June 1860, so he died after this date. He is not found in any later census.

Cain 7662 has conflicting data in bio and death date, rejects known fact he had son William and five other children, thus should be removed from the wiki database, and other entries by the profile owner should be scrutinized.

I don't understand why he made this statement, but I know how it makes me feel.  Please read this and look at my cain-7662 profile above and maybe you can explain the conflicting data in the profile.  For the record, William Cain had 4 sons and 6 daughters but I can not list them without valid sources.  I had just found a record on another one of his sons, Western Cain.  I knew the name had a history with William Cain, I figured out a new technique of searching and it turned him up.  It also found the issue with cain-569 and cain-7662.

Thank you for taking a look at these two William Cains and if you have any questions I have more than 20 years of notes just on William Cain.  I also didn't tell you I just spent the last 2 months trying to link the Augusta County Cains to the Russell County Cains because I already rambled on enough.  I had taken a few DNA tests but they ended up being for the most part, not very accurate.  My brother took the Big Y and it placed us with Barry McCain, Y Haplogroup R-FGC31787 and that meant his book became our Bible and still is my brother's BOOK.  I also took a Big Y and we got our last living Uncle to take the Big Y.  This caused us to branch off Y Haplogroup R-FGC31787 around CE1450 and was assigned our own Haplogroup, R-FT347395.  Being an idiot, what was my first thought?  Right, I went back to the Descendants of Nicholas Cain armed with a ton of new information bent on proving William Cain of Augusta County and Russell County were the same person.  They are not the same person and even though I had eliminated all possibilities decades ago, Even if I find William Cain's place and date of birth, the date will be closer to 1782 and this alone would prove there is no link for the two Cain families.

I too still want my original family path to go through Augusta County.  So, I know how this guy feels.

Thanks for the help, my friend.

Ed
