G2G: How did my Unconnected Profile get connected?

I had a grouping of profiles on my watchlist that were unconnected and now they are no longer on the unconnected list. Is there a way to see how they finally got connected or which profile made the connection for the group? I don't even know if I made the connection or someone else. I've provided the WikiTree URL of one of the profiles that were in that group

Looking at my connection to Hugh Bagg the only edits done this year are the connection between Hugh and his daughter Elizabeth and a few associated edits. Elizabeth Christian (Bagg) Collier (1792 - 1864) is also a profile managed by someone else and created in 2019. So it appears that your connection between father and daughter on 23 February 2023 is what made the group of unconnected profiles connected.

The connections do not show up right away (or get removed from the unconnected list) so it is quite easy to make a connection without realising it.

OK that helps ... should I have figured that out myself by looking at the "changes" tab on his profile? Or is there another way?

Connection to the big tree can be done in a variety of ways, many steps out from the profile in question. So say you had a family group of 10 profiles covering 4 generations, none of which are connected to the main tree. Only one of the profiles has to get connected before the others get connected into the tree behind it.

So you can always start with the original profile's change logs to see what changes could have been made, but in reality, it could be very tough to find for some groups!
