How can I follow changes to my ancestors?

I know that it is possible to follow a tag, such as a surname, and be notified of changes to the profile of anyone with that surname, but it seems that in order to similarly keep up with changes to one's immediate ancestors one would have to go to each ancestor's profile, beg whoever is managing the profile to put you on the trusted list, and then hope that they are still alive and still active and some day get around to approving your request. Shouldn't it be just as easy to follow your own ancestors as it is to follow any arbitrary surname you want?

Frankly, I think that the watchlist and the trusted list are needlessly entangled. They serve two very different purposes. A "trusted list" should be very narrow, but for the public profiles at least anyone should be able to view a profile or to follow changes to it at will without having to go through a gatekeeper or time-consuming process.

Just click on the My Wikitree menu, then choose “Family activity feed” and you can see activity for your ancestors, descendants, connections, and other groupings.
