What can you do when you have a lot of family photos with no names and no one alive to state who they are?

Me- I would try and group the photos. If you notice the same person(s) who seems prolific, group them all together. I would assume family. Male and female, relatively same age, I would assume husband and wife. Photography of the past is not like today. It was used to document. Look at backgrounds for hints of location. Differences in age for hints of relationships. You will probably be surprised what you piece together when you compare the photos to your genealogy research that will no doubt coordinate w/ the timeline and people you know are family.
I never thought of doing those things. I know the suburbs they were from - the whole family back to 1880 lived in 2 suburbs so hopefully I can join some dots together.
My cousins and I started a group on fb and invited family to help us with unidentified photos. We have been able to place quite a few that way.
That would be great, unfortunately my family other than immediate don't get along and keep stealing my research ugh!

Great Idea though

I am on a couple of different Facebook groups (location based) and often people post a photo and suggestions are put forward to identify a person. If you know the relative that the photos came from could you look for a similar group in the correct region? (I must get around to posting a few I want answers to the same question).

This family was only in 2 suburbs for several generations so maybe I can find a group with them local in Sydney NSW. They are the 'Goodes' in Rockdale and Kogarah.
try and locate an old yearbook or two from the time period(s) that would place your known relative in school so you can compare photos. vehicles and tractors are good to date photos, if present in photos

There is a website built for the purpose of sharing, and getting help identifying photos.  Post your pictures there and maybe someone will recognize them.  Also share photos that you HAVE identified to share with the community.
