Thought I found a treasure trove until I found the WJD fraud link. I am stuck on my Dietrich connection. The only source I have right now is Floyd's of Northumberland County, but I don't know how much was based on WJD. Anyone have a connection to these locations?

Can you be more specific about exactly who you are researching and when?  Those old county books are great for clues, but often incorporated unsupported family stories in the bios.   The article on the Dietrichs includes a lot of dates and events which can likely be affirmed or refuted by documentation, but you’ll have to search for it.

if you look at the “Related Questions” below you find links to discussion of the false genealogy and William J Dietrich.

Specifically John Michael Dietrich, born abt 1768 near Brandywine Battlefield. In 1800 he's in Berks, Longswamp area working a a Cooper. Has neighbor named Conrad Dietrich also a Cooper. He married Barbara Sussholtz and relocated to  Augusta Twp., Northumberland County in the 1820's and 1830's. By 1840, he's in Barry Twp, Schulkill.
Hello Marie……….

My fourth Great-Grandfather is the Conrad you mentioned.  He and JMD must have men married to sisters, mine was Elizabetha and he was also a cooper.  Where did you find your information ?  I’m assuming the girls came from Seasholtzville.  Any information on location. ?  I’m wondering if Conrad and JMD could have been brothers.

Kathie Forbes advise of reading through the related posts is good advise.  The Dietrich Name Study (created by John Deeter) is a good place to start. On the Y-DNA page  you can see the Y-DNA lines known so far, including the Pennsylvania Dietrich settlers. You might be able to match your Dietrich ancestors with one of these lines. There are many knowledgeable WikiTreers that can help. Just need to know which Dietrichs you are researching.
