Hi. I have been researching my family tree on and off for years. I am at a road block with Fortin and Chaput. They are my 2nd great grandparents.

From what my grandfather told me Chaput came to the USA and changed the surname to Shepard.

I see there are 488 profiles with the surname Chaput (same spelling) already on WikiTree.  If you want to take a look at those, use the ʻFindʻ menu and select ʻSearchʻ. You will arrive at a screen that lets you enter any information you have, dates and places, etc.  You can also search just the surname from the lower part of the form, thatʻs how to fine the 488.
