I tried to correct william brunton tree. He is in my direct line and it will not let me. I have wills and birthcertificates to prove all I am trying to post and it still would not let me?

Hi Glory,

It might help if you provided a link to the specific profile in question (or a WikiTree ID#).  There seem to be many profiles with the name William Brunton.

I think Glory is asking about this person:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Brunton-902

Glory, I added his FamilySearch profile link to his Wikitree profile. Which GG grandmother are you trying to add?

Since we are going back fairly far in time, could the problem be the need for pre-1700 certification?

William was born about 1777 and his parents around 1750, so that is probably not the problem (but see Pre-1700 Profiles here if it is).

Glory, to help us give advice, could you please comment on your question with more details of what you tried? If you saw an error message, what did it say exactly?

I got it on there ann grieve. It was not letting me . I also added lots of info under ann button bruton under memories. I have several books too and other inventions that the family did. I will add more info later.  I find wiki harder to deal with than other trees.  I have experience in investigations so all documentation is proven from me to robert brunton clock maker...

i was trying to add ann grieves family tree but it was not allowing me. I guess i do not have enough experience or something for that time frame according to wiki. The fact it gave me this much problems adding my own past 3 generations even with documentation makes me question some of the trees in wiki and documentation. I seen a lot of errors . One being ann elizabeth was listed twice..wrong birthdates. Wrong info on twin brother robert. I have not checked to see if this was fixed but i did post twins birth certificates and thankfully this family connected themselves via putting extra info on each certificate.

Another question why is my william brunton inventor not connected to the one with wrong information that I seen ran by someone?  They were claiming it was william brunton inventor son or robert clock maker but contained a lot of worng information?

Thanks for the response, Glory. You say it was not allowing you. Can you copy and paste here the exact text of the error message the system gives when it does not allow you? This will help us to work out what the problem is. WikiTree error messages tend to show up in colour, for example red or with an orange background. If you can find that and copy it here, it will be a good step forward.

You may need to upgrade. There's limits to what you can do as a family member. It's free to upgrade, you just need to sign the Honor code. More info here:

True in general, Peggy, but Glory signed the Honor Code on 10 April 2022, so that is not the problem in this case.

Sorry, my mistake.
