I have information to contribute to the profile of Siegemund Hilbert. This is what I can add:

  • Birth and marriage

These are the sources I am using:

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

It is most helpful if you enter the actual source of the data along with the link to the image.
The first is the birth and the second is the marriage of Siegemund. Click on the link and wait please. The archive is not the quickest!
My apologies, I think my response was misunderstood (yes, it it is a slow database).

My suggestion is state what the source is such as

Title of the Source which you can follow with [sourcelink p 24]

Then when a user looks at the profile, they will see the name of the source followed by page number in source which will directly link to that page. You need a space between the actual URL of the source page and the page number.

Maybe we are talking past each other, because I don't understand your problem. The links clearly lead to the goal. The advantage, you can zoom the page and browse or research in the respective book itself.

To explain: I searched for "Hilbert" for a friend and entered the records. She will also take over the further maintenance of the profiles. I suggested her to download the entries as jpg and add them to the profile. Since she is working, this will take time.

One picture because I don't know if the link is permanent at "Porta Fontium" (archive Pilsen/Plzen). The archive Leitmeritz/Litomerice uses "perma(nent)links.

You then have both: you can look in the book or look directly at the picture.

I understood that at wikitree everyone is allowed to make improvements to a profile. I think that's good, because good ideas should not be lost.
