In your John Lawrence Secula example, I do not see the social security number.  I got a little panicy there for a minute.  Do you see the SSN on your example?  Perhaps it only shows for family members or some other relation?

I see the SSN of deceased persons all the time on ancestry.
Whoa!  I don't think that is a good idea.  Glad I don't use Ancestry.
Good idea or not, the information is freely available by going to the website for the SSDI.  All you need are the correct details of the deceased person.
I was focused on the benefit of seeing parents' names on a free site. Ancestry has these files, but it's a pay site. Years ago, I would send away for copies of the original applications, but free is so much nicer
You are right about that.  Lots of good information there!
