I have been working with Family Search for years, but ran into a dead end with finding  Thomas Jefferson Moulton's father.  I have just been on Wikitree for a couple of hours and found his connection with Stephen Moulton,Sr. in Floyd, New York.  So, I've started a tree on WikiTree.

Congrats and Welcome to Wikitree! Glad you found existing profiles for your family here. As to connecting C.V. Farrar Junior to his father, the answer is yes. Wikitree is a one world tree, and we work hard not to have duplicate profiles of people. Here is a wikitree help page that explains how this works.

If C.V. Farrar is Clement Van Landigham Farrar, then he is already connected to his father Farrar-2523

His mother was Moulton-1032, there is no need to create duplicate profiles.
