The mute horror of genocide can be found in genealogical records. Andriy Ostapenko, age 19, a villager of Tuchyno in Ukrainian SSR, had a death certificate filed for him in 1933. The Holodomor was in full swing. The person filling out the certificate either could nor or would not include the real cause of death -- probably either starvation or execution. Instead, under cause of death we find "Ukrainian" (you can see it circled in red in the image).

Guess they actually told the truth about the reason, if not the cause.
