Ok I found his unit on the back side of the FS document you linked..5th Replacement Bn... Will add to profile.

Hello Carol, I am not sure if you are going to find a Catagorization for Joseph. This was right at the end of WWI and Joseph had just finished Training. In Military Parlance a "REP BN" is a Repalcment Battalion, a kind of a holding unit until someone is shipped to there regular unit or back to civilian life.
