Merging: Alderfer vs Altaffer which is more likely Swiss LNAB?

Alderffer-1 and Altaffer-2 need to be merged. But what is most likely the more correct LNAM for someone born in the canton of Bern (Switzerland) in the early 1700s?

By the way, there is a conflict in marriage location. Since the bride is known to have immigrated in 1735, the marriage would have been in Virginia.

For what’s it’s worth, I did some searching at FamilySearch using both names, and got no hits. I will admit I only looked at a few pages of hits … the were over 200. What came up was Altorfer.
Try Altdorfer.

The standard reference for Swiss surnames and the municipalities with which they are associated is the Register of Swiss Surnames:

https://hls-dhs-dss.ch/famn/index.php

Neither spelling is listed. The only thing close that was around pre-1900 was

Altorfer

But that was only associated with Cantons Zurich and Schaffhausen in the eighteenth century.
