Collingwood headstone mystery solved and family found on Wikitree

...tombstone remains once marked the grave of seafarer Christopher McGarry who was buried out at the North Head of Westhaven (Whanganui) Inlet in mid-1866.

In this case, it took my book to get published for Sally Gaffney, a research archivist at the Golden Bay Museum to get in touch with details supplied by museum veteran Penny Griffith, who forwarded a net-published wikitree entry.

What a fascinating story of a headstone's journey.

Thank you for sharing this article, it was so interesting to read about connections coming together and persistence and sharing solving the mystery. I have since visited Christopher McGarry's Wikitree profile (his grave is the subject of the 'Stuff' article), and it is a great profile! So I am going to take this opportunity to congratulate the profile author Victoria Leachman for her work developing it, and helping solve the puzzle.
