Remove an image.

I have read a number of descriptions of how to remove an image but I have not been able to follow the directions given in any of them.  In Photos FAQ I am told

click to edit the details and then select the "REMOVE" button next to every name in the "People, Places & Things in the Photo" section I have never found any place with a "remove" button" for photos but there is a remove button for captions.

My profile for Henry Hale (Hale-1274) has 7 pictures the first and third are symbols rahter than pictures.  I want to remove them!  The fifth and sixth are the same and one of these is what I want as the biggest picture that comes up on a tree when Henry is in the first three columns.

First of all, the ones you say are symbols, not pictures, do you mean the PDFs? Because while you'll only see the PDF symbol, if you click on it you can open the PDF.

If you go to the photo page, you should see a section called People, Places & Things in the Photo. Under that you'll see the people in the photo listed, and each one has the following options: uncertain, certain, and REMOVE from photo. Select the last one and click the Save Changes to Photo Info button further down the screen. That will remove the person from the photo. When a photo has no people attached to it, it will eventually be deleted.

To select the photo you want to appear on the tree (the primary photo), look for the Set to Primary Photo section on the image page.
