For those who appreciate the knowledge and information preserved by Internet Archive, there are ways we can help them fight for the right of libraries to own, lend, and preserve books. And I'm sure they will also welcome donations to help cover their legal costs. See:

I received an e-mail today from Internet Archive (I'm on their mailing list, since I'm a contributor), which included the link to the blog that Shirley posted & the following news:

A lower court decision released on Friday ruled in favor of the publishers. This is a blow to all libraries and the communities we serve—but the fight is far from over.
