G2G: How do we correct a tree that has erroneous children added to it?

Multiple children have been added to a tree.  Unproven maiden names are added as well.  I can't (won't) connect with the tree I am working on because I don't want to perpetuate the mistakes.  I have wriiten to the tree manager with no response.

Any help? John Kirkpatrick c/o Cheryl Kirkpatrick

We have just one big tree here and people manage individual profiles.  The PM for Alexander's profile has not been active for quite a while, so you may want to go the Unresponsive Manager route  Help:Unresponsive Profile Managers (wikitree.com) and then adopt the profile if it is orphaned.  Alexander's profile is open, so you can feel free to edit as long as you have sources to back up any changes you make. As you move down (or up) the line you should always start by posting changes you think are needed (with sources) as comments on the profile.  If there's no response, then it's fine to go ahead and make the changes yourself if the profile is open.  If others disagree you can always bring the question here to G2G, for example "Were the parents of Mary Smith John Jones and Mary Doe or were they Tom Jones and Mary Roe?"
