My main interest is in the Herrin surname without regard to spelling or misspelling. I have an entire filing cabinet full of documents about the Herrins. All my collateral lines are in the attic (sorry) and will be turned over to the Pulaski County Kentucky Genealogical Society soon,
I was an active researcher for about forty years but now seldom explore. I believe the records of my unknown ancestor lie hidden away in a church record and/or some uncirculated court document.
My most recent discovery, thanks to Family Tree, is that Edward Herring of Spartanburg Co., SC was a patriot of the Revolution serving in Wake County, NC. He was also a supplier of beef to the army unless the latter was that Edward who was his father and died in 1788/9 Chatham County, NC.
Many have placed Edward the elder in the line of John and Marjory Herring of Isle of Wight County, Viriginia, but unless the research of that line was in error, the DNA does not match, so I am in pursuit of Edward's true lineage.
