He was one of 5 commissioners named to fix a suitable place for seat of justice for Butler County, Alabama. He came to Alabama from Georgia, in 1818, driving a team and bringing a family of four sons and two daughters.
George Harrison, Hillery Herbert and MicajahWade are given as assignees of Henry Vinson for the North East quarter of Section Twenty three inTownship ten of Range Fourteen containing onehundred and sixty acres, dated April 7, 1825.
SPECULATION ONLY: George Harrison may be the son of Henry Harrison(b. 1728) and Elizabeth Avery (b. 1732) of Albermarle Parrish VA. (Trace this family back to 1504 on the IGI.) At least one child of this couple, daughter Palatea, was in Jones Co. GA in 1821. Many of the first settlers of Butler Co. who settled on Persimmon Creek were with the group from Jones Co. GA.
