Hello, I'm glad you're interested in Hiram. I've been researching him for years. He is my 3rd g-grandfather. I know for certain he is not Hiram Patterson's son. Check their birthdates and it makes it clear. I have researched H. Patterson extensively and can say with certainty he can be ruled out. I have been looking to document Henry for years. Unfortunately his birth records burned in a fire years ago. I keep ruling people out and keep coming up with William Daugherty and Susanna Magill Daugherty as his parents. I am genetically related to another person here on ancestry who traced his line back to the same line I have. In my research, I found that Hiram Henry had a brother named Robert Hiram Daugherty 1805-1886, who always went by Hiram and Hiram Henry Daugherty always went by Henry. There was quite a scandal surrounding him and Mary Jane, his second wife, as she was his step-daughter who he impregnated while married to her mother, Charlotte Goodnight. I'm thinking that might have something to do with not being able to connect him to that family. I know that the famous cattleman Charles Goodnight disowned Mary Jane Goodnight, his sister, over the whole thing and Charlotte started spelling her name with an Sharlotte. There are a lot of little things about both families that lead me to guess his heritage, for now. If you find something more concrete I'd love it if you would share it with me. Regards, Sandi By the way, there is a very good tree here on wiki for Hiram P (Patterson) Dougherty ID: Dougherty-1287 which I have all the same information on him in Ancestry.
